With PVC Pipe, The Possibilities Are Endless!
Are you one of those crafty people who like to make things and create things using inexpensive materials, recyclables, or things you can find around the house? If you are one of those crafty people and are looking for something new to catch your fancy and keep you entertained, consider the possibilities of PVC pipes.
Yep, you read that correctly. PVC pipe. PVC stands for ‘polyvinyl chloride;’ it is a plastic water pipe made of a combination of different plastics and vinyl. PVC pipe is one of the most durable and reliable types of piping out there, due to the fact that because it is not made of metal it won’t rot or rust out. Although it is made of plastics, PVC pipe is very durable and resilient and can withstand a lot of stress caused by weight and bending.
For these very same reasons, PVC pipes can be used to create a variety of things useful in everyday life, such as furniture, gifts, and even outdoor structures! With PVC pipes, the possibilities really are amazing; the material is inexpensive, usually costing between $2 and $3 dollars per foot. This is a relatively inexpensive investment for a sturdy building material that can withstand a variety of conditions. Not only is it durable, but PVC is easy to build with. It is easily cut, using a jigsaw or a similar cutting apparatus, and although the pipe can be bent, corner pieces can even be purchased to make projects balanced and uniform.
Here are a few of the things that people might build with PVC pipes:
* Canopied Bed
* Outdoor furniture (lawn and lounge chairs, pool furniture, etc)
* Sports Equipment Racks (for balls, duffel bags, shoes, etc)
* Greenhouses, Tomato Houses, Garden Hoop house
* Musical instruments (recorders, whistles, etc)
* And More!
The list of useful, everyday things that can be made with the wonders of plain old PVC pipe is endless. Depending on what your needs are, just about anything can be made using this durable, resilient substance.
Where Can I Find PVC Pipe?
You should be able to find PVC pipe at your local home improvement store or hardware store, such as Lowe’s, ACO Hardware, or even Home Depot. It can be purchased in a variety of lengths, usually one of the store associates will be more than happy to cut your pipe to the lengths you desire. If for some reason you don’t want to go through all of this, the associate is unable to do it (which is rare) or you don’t have your measurements with you when you go to the store to select the pipe, buying long sections is okay if you have a jigsaw or another means of cutting the PVC pipe into the lengths you desire. Again, this can be done using an inexpensive jigsaw or even a handsaw, if you have lots of strength and energy to complete the task.
For all of you builders and crafters out there, go on and explore the possibilities of PVC pipe as one of your materials. With it being so well-priced, the possibilities are endless!
